The VOSET method is discussed as a new coupled algorithm which is fully geometrical, mass-conserved and computes surface tension force as accurate as other CLSVOF methods. The algorithm of the method is used in a code which is developed for two-phase flow simulations. Validation of the code showed that the method produces spurious currents of a very low order in comparison with common VOF methods which increases the accuracy of the method. Bubble free rise in a quiescent fluid in a vertical column was particularly discussed and resultant terminal velocities and shapes showed a very good agreement in comparison with other experimental works. Finally the effect of different bubble initial conditions on the terminal velocities were investigated for a particular case. The results showed that initial shape of bubble does not affect the terminal properties of the bubble significantly and only in the beginning seconds of rise, the instantaneous bubble velocities differ due to their initially different topologies.
