A new convenient and mild method for thioacetalization of heterocyclic, aromatic and aliphatic compounds catalyzed by silica sulfuric acid is described. Silica sulfuric acid which can be prepared by simple procedure using commercially available and relatively cheap starting materials, efficiently acts as highly active and catalyst for thioacetalization of a variety of carbonyl compounds in solvent-free conditions .Some of the major advantages of this method are high chemoselectivity, ease of operation, short reaction times, high yields, and compatibility with protecting groups.
