چکیده:

The relationships between leaf trichome densities and sweet potato whitefly, Bemisia tabaci(Gennadius), infestations of 6 upland cotton, Gossypium hirsutum L. (Mehr, Varamin, Sahel, Khordad,Okra and Red okra) Varieties and one Sea island cotton, Gossypium barbadence (Termus 14) varietywere investigated in the period of 2009 cropping season at Cotton Research Station East Countries ofKashmar.The result indicated that Termus 14 supported the highest numbers of eggs, nymphs and adults,accompanied with the most numbers of leaf trichomes.While the varieties Okra and Red okra with theleast numbers of trichomes on leaf surface supported the least numbers of various stages of whitefly. Theresult indicated a significant and positive association. The result suggested that glabrus leaves cottonvarieties may reduce the whitefly population on cotton.
