چکیده:

Systematic study on the effect acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) concentration on the fracture toughness behavior of epoxy was conducted in this work. NBR was solved in a suitable solvent and then added to epoxy resin using diethyleneteriamin as the curing agent; finally the mixture was molded and cured in especially manufactured molds based on ASTM methods. Tensile test results showed that the toughness is improved owing to the increase of rubber content. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and fourier transform infra-red (FTIR) were used to investigate the polymer/polymer interface and chemical composition of the mixture.
