چکیده:

Silicium carbide (SiC) is one of the most important materials in composite and electronic applications. In this research, 0.5, 1, 2, 4 wt% SiC nanowhiskers and nanoparticles filled nanocomposites were made using Epoxy resin (Araldit LY 564 & Aradur HY 560 hardener) as matrix and ultrasonic processor for their dispersion. The influence of filler content and aspect ratio (L/D) from nanoparticle to nanowhisker on tensile properties of nanocomposites were investigated. Statistical analysis (Two way Anova) were used to study the accuracy of the results. Nanoparticles addition of 1 wt% caused an increase of 17% in tensile modulus and 27% in strength. Higher content of nanoparticles reduced the achieved tensile properties to 12% in modulus and 22% in strength. This could be due to the particles interaction. For nanowhiskers composites of 2 wt% an increase of 35% in tensile properties (modulus and strength) and a reduction with higher content were achieved (22% for 4 wt% filler content). The higher properties of nanowhisker filled composites could be due to the higher aspect ratio as compared with nanoparticles
