The nonlinear response of steel plate shear wall (SPSW) under lateral loading with regard to the beam-to-column connection type is studied. Two connection types have been considered including: moment resisting connection and Reduced Beam Section (RBS). Two single story SPSW models have been analyzed and results are utilized to discuss (a) The sequence of plasticity in plate, beams and columns, (b) The stiffness variation of the infill wall and frame structure, (c) The ductility of SPSW and (d) The frame and wall contribution share of the lateral load bearing. Moreover, plastic hinges have been studied regarding their location, shape, and plastic region distribution. Results show that using RBS connections in SPSW considerably improves the system behavior and makes the infill plates act more efficiently through absorbing more portions of lateral loads.
