in this investigation the mechanical and microstructure properties of AL5058 welds have been studied in respect of nickel content in weld metal withinthe range of 0.5to 4.5 percent samples were produced with automatic TIG welding process in butt weld condition with different wire feeder speed rate of pure nickel filler metal the optical metallographic and EDX analysis result show that with increase of weld metal nickel content the grain size decreased and the amount of inter metallic compounds on nickel rich phase increased the mechanical test result shows that with increase of weld metal nickel content both the tensile and yield strength increased whilst impact energy and elongation decreased.
