چکیده:

Conventional overbalanced drilling (OBD) mostly results in several problems in Naturally Fractured Reservoirs (NFR). Formation damage and lost circulation are two main problems associated with OBD in NFR which consequently result to decrease the productivity of the formation. More than 80% of Iranian oil fields are naturally fractured, so we encountering this issue many times in that region. The main objective of this study is assessing the application of state-of-the-art technology to eliminate such difficulties currently dealing with NFR. Here we investigate the use of under balanced Drilling (UBD) in one of the Iranian NFR and besides, an evaluation proceeded on the effect of UBD on reduction of formation damages which are associated with conventional overbalanced drilling. For achieving this aim, this paper describes the result of simulation study in NFR when using UBD and OBD and compares those results with real time data. Comparing the simulation data and actual data shows that UBD increases the productivity of the formation
