چکیده:

Stepped spillways were widely used in Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) dams in the recent decades. Considering complexity of hydraulics of stepped chutes, their initialdesign involves pre-selection using empirical equations for computation of flow characteristics and design parameters. In this paper, empirical equations derivedfrom physical model tests, proposed for computation locations of aeration inception (LI), uniform flow (Lu) and energy dissipation (ΔH/Hmax), are compared. Such afeedback will be helpful for improvement of initial design and subsequent physical modeling of similar stepped spillways in future.
