Dyes are widely used by textile industries to color their products. One of the major problems concerning textile wastewaters is color effluent. This wastewater contains a variety of organic compound and toxic substances, which are harmful to fish and other aquatic organism [1].Adsorption process is one of the effective methods with the advantages of high treatment efficiency and no harmful by-product to treat water [2]. To achieve higher water treatment efficiency, the properties of adsorbent/catalyst are very important, including significant organic pollutant adsorption from solution and high catalytic activity for oxidation. Many researchers have investigated low-cost, locally available, biodegradable substitutes made from natural sources to remove dyes from wastewater [3,4]. There is a growing interest in inexpensive high surface area materials, especially metal oxides, and in their unique applications including adsorption and chemical catalysis [5]. Powder metal oxides have relatively high surface area and catalytic activity [6]. Recently, considerable attention has been focused on the application of magnetic separation technology to solve environmental problems. Examples of this technology are the use of magnetic CuFe2O4, MnO-Fe2O3 composite for the adsorption of organic dyes [7]. The present work investigates the catalytic adsorption of Acid Red 138 (AR 138) dye with natural rice bran and synthesized nano magnetic composite of CuFe2O4 , COFe2O4 and MgFe2O4 in aqueous medium. The applied adsorbents were characterized by XRD, SEM and IR analyses.
