چکیده:

Alumina with having excellent mechanical properties has disadvantages such as low fracture toughness and excessive grain growth during sintering. In this project, 7.5 vol. % SiC nanoparticles were added to Al2O3 powder containing MgO nanoparticles. Sintering of the powder compacts was carried out in argon at 1600 to 1750°C temperatures under 30 MPa. The results indicated significant increases in mechanical properties such as density, flexural strength, hardness to 21 GPa, and toughness fracture with increasing hotpressing temperature. The SEM micrographs showed SiC nanoparticles inhibited the grain growth of Al2O3. The fracture mode of Al2O3- nanoSiC nanocomposites were mainly intragranular fracture
