چکیده:

In this paper we synthesis a novel compound as hydrogen storage materials. Complex metallic alloys (CMAs) are new category of materials which have a good potential in storing hydrogen. 2-Al3Mg2 which belongs to this new category of materials was first produced as pre-alloyed ingot, then crushed into small size powder and finally mechanically milled in an attritor ball mill for 100 h to synthesize nanoparticles. Characterizations of the milled 2-Al3Mg2 powders were performed using X-ray diffractometry (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray analyzer (EDX) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results showed the production of single phase 2-Al3Mg2 nanoparticles. In the next steps, this study will continue with the investigation of hydrogenation characteristics of nanostructured 2-Al3Mg2.
