In this paper, we present the fabrication of strongly hydrophobic and oleophobic silica /epoxy hybrid nanocomposite coatings using sol-gel method. The sol–gel films were synthesized from 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) and tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) precursors and addition of surface modifiers. In order to investigate the effective factors on the properties of organically modified silicates films (Ormosils), different coatings with different organic and hydrolysis water content were developed. The characterization results showed that these crack – free coatings had high chemical durability in solution of high and low pH. The water contact angel (WCA) of films was about 105° and for hexadecane about 75°.
