چکیده:

HA-Y2O3-ZrO2, a nano-composite as a biomaterial, was successfully synthesized via Sol-gel method. . The study of the crystal structure through the X-ray Diffraction (XRD) confirmed the formation of tetragonal zirconia (t-ZrO2) and hydroxyapatite (HA). The study of the chemical state by the X-ray photo-emission spectroscopy (XPS) and the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) confirmed the HA-Zirconium bond in the ternary composite system.The study of the biomaterial thermal behaviour by simultaneous thermal analysis (STA) verified that the presence of the HA beside the Zirconium , reduces the tetragonal formation temperature from 1100°C to be 400°C. Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) of the sample represented the average particle size as around 20 nm for t-ZrO2 and 50 nm for HA; moreover, it illustrated the fine dispersion of the t zrO2in the HA matrix
