چکیده:

The effect of various organo-modified-layered nanosillicates (Closite 30B: C30B and Closite 15A: C15A) on the rheological, morphological, and structural properties of immiscible acrylonitrile butadiene rubber/styrene butadiene rubber (SBR/ NBR) blends was investigated. Compounds based on different ratio of the SBR/NBR containing organoclay were mixed in an internal mixer at temperature of 90°C and then the rheological behavior and melt viscoelastic properties of the samples were studied by rheometric mechanical spectrometry (RMS) at a temperature of 160°C. X-ray diffractometer (XRD), and Scanning Electron Microscopy and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) were used to investigate the structure and morphology of the nanocomposites. XRD’s results showed that Mooney viscosity of the rubber and the affinity between organo clay and the rubber affected the expansion of the gallery height which was confirmed by RMS’s results. Image analysis of the SEM/EDS elemental mapping showed a significant reduction in the size of NBR droplet for the filled SBR/NBR (80/20) blend. Wetting parameter was calculated to figure out the affinity between the nanoparticles and the rubbers and also it was used to predict the final location of the organoclay in the blends. The results showed higher affinity of NBR and SBR with C30B and C15A respectively. The same result was obtained by rheological study of the samples and an enhancement of melt elasticity due to increase in compatibility was observed for them
