چکیده:

This article presents two algorithms for statistical validation of raw particle image velocimetry (PIV) data. This is in order to study turbulent flow characteristics in the flow field downstream of a centrifugal turbomachine rotor. Two different approaches are applied in validations. In the first approach, random points are used to find and omit the instantaneous snapshots containing the most invalid data points. The second approach evaluates all points of each snapshot and omits the invalid data points based on convergence diagrams. The results show that the second approach is more efficient since it produces a sharp and distinct map of the turbulence characteristics of jet-wake structures
