چکیده:

The paper proposes simultaneous coordinated design of IEEE type PSS3B stabilizer and TCSC-based POD controller to increase power system oscillation stability. Since the PSS3Bhas demonstrated superior damping performance over CPSSs and other IEEE types dual-input stabilizers, for the first time inthis paper it is included in coordinated design with TCSC device. The design problem is expressed as an optimization procedure and the coordination is focused on parallel choice of adaptablegains and time constants employing PSO algorithm by minimizing the specified eigenvalue-based cost function in whichsome operating conditions are regarded concurrently. From perspective of eigenvalue analysis, the goal of coordination is tomove the unstable or weakly damped electromechanical oscillation modes inside the defined stable location in the complex plane to satisfy the damping criteria. Also in order to compare the transient performance of proposed PSS3B-TCSC controllers with the earlier work about CPSS-TCSC coordinationdemonstratively, time domain simulations are carried out on SMIB test system over different disturbances. Results show superior improvement in damping of oscillations illustratively in conformation with the eigenvalue analysis to increase the power system stability.
