چکیده:

In this study, sloshing behavior of a partially-filled rectangular tank is simulated numerically using weakly compressible smoothed particle hydrodynamic (WCSPH) method. The SPH method is a pure Lagrangian method in which the fluid is represented with a large number of discrete particles that can move and interact with each others. After validation of the Newtonian results with previous published results, we applied thedeveloped code to viscoelastic fluids. It is assumed that the liquid inside the tank obeys UCM model for viscoelastic fluids. The acquired results show that fluid’s elasticity (as represented by its relaxation time) can dramatically affect the free surface shape. It is also shown that baffles are very useful for harnessing violent sloshing of viscoelastic fluids
