Growing use of interactive systems urges the inclusion of human computer interaction (HCI) concepts in software development processes (SDP). To serve this purpose, UMLi adds some new constructs and diagrams to UML, and UPi refines some workflows of RUP. However, they address different aspects of SDP. In this paper, we present a user centered process that brings together these two distinct efforts. The simple enhanced process for interactive systems development, SEPID, gets the benefits of both UMLi and UPi in producing more usable software. It is based on the workflows of RUP. In SEPID, we define more precisely than UPi, how to manage the design and development of user interfaces. With the help of the new diagrams in UMLi, we achieve simpler design models for interactive systems. As a result, SEPID helps the systematic design and construction of easier to use interactive applications, where its design can be reused.
