چکیده:

This paper presents a new methodology for selecting the most appropriate monitoring wells in groundwater systems for identifying an unknown pollution source using ELECTRE-III multi-criteria decision-making technique. The proposed methodology is comprised of a multi-objective optimization model, namely Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II (NSGA-II), MODFLOW and MT3D groundwater quantity and quality simulation models, Monte Carlo analysis, Shannon Entropy method, and the ELECTRE-III. A questioner has been designed to gather engineering judgments and experts opinions about ELECTRE-III parameters such as weights of different criteria. The results of this study show that the proposed methodology can be effectively used for selecting appropriate monitoring wells for the case study of this research.
