چکیده:

This paper presents the effect of maleated SEBS compatibilizer precursor on the morphology and mechanical properties toward polypropylene (PP)/polycarbonate (PC)/ poly (styrene-b- (ethylene-co-butylene)-b-styrene) (SEBS) 70/15/15 w/w/w ternary systems. Two disperse phases are consisting of 15wt% of PC and 15 wt% of reactive (maleic anhydride grafted) and non reactive SEBS mixtures which are prepared in a co-rotating twin screw extruder. Scanning electron micrographs prepared by morphological study showed that the blends containing only non-reactive SEBS exhibited a fine dispersion of core-shell particles. In rest of samples, all including reactive compatibilizer precursor, by decreasing the SEBS / SEBS-g-MAH weight ratio, the blend morphology changed from the core-shell particles to a complex system containing composite droplets, rod like structures and individual particles. In fact, the mechanical properties were considerably affected by variations in the phase morphology which could be attributed to the formation of those especial microstructures revealed by the morphological characterizations
