in this study the progressive collapse analysis of a seismically -designed nine -storey low ductile steel plate shear wall SPSW building was investigated using the alternate path method recommended in the U.S DoD and GSA guidelines . Two different analysis procedures using the commercial structural analysis software SAP2000 have been carried out for comparison: linear static and linear dynamic . in this study a column and adjacent infill plate are instantaneously removed from the SPSW to simulate a potential progressive collapse scenario. the aim is to investigate the capability of the SPSW system to successfully absorb the member loss and resist the spread of damage .
