چکیده:

This paper aims to investigate the effect of seismic design of buildings on mitigating progressive collapse numerically by progressive collapse analysis of two seismically designed concentric braced frames designed according to the parts 6 and 10 of Iranian National Building Code and on the basis of the Iranian Seismic Code (Standard No. 2800 – first and third editions) by applying Nonlinear time history and vertical Incremental dynamic analyses. Toward this aim two 10-story steel CBF buildings were designed and their outer Frames were studied. In the mentioned frames some columns and related braces in different plan location were removed and the effect of such scenarios on the dynamic behavior of the structure was investigated. To perform nonlinear analyses, the OpenSees software and its fiber elements were used for the modeling of nonlinear behavior of structural members. Possibility of members’ plasticity along the member length and cross section and buckling of compression members was considered in the model.
