Proper installing of DGs near endcustomers in a smart distribution system improves system reliability and network losses. Moreover, in a smart distributionsystem customers are not just consumer and they can participate in market as an energy supplier. However, in some conditions if alarge amount of DGs generate energysimultaneously, it may result in network congestion. Based on the day-ahead scheduling optimization done for distributed resources production during the following day, this paper considered how to find the optimal configuration for next day. A novel objective function for reconfiguration optimization is presented which is proper for active distribution network. The objective is to minimize thecost of customers’ energy supplying, using the most potential of DGs in system reliability improvement, system losses reduction and switching cost minimization. Harmony search algorithm is implemented for problem optimization. Numerical results of a 33-bus test system are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
