In this research, a series of polyacrylamide/laponite nanoparticle suspensions were prepared via solution mixing and the effect of nanoparticle content and polymer concentration and molecular weight and water temperature, pH and salinity on their rheological behavior were investigated using a concentric cylinder dynamic rheometer. Rheological investigation showed that the polyacrylamide and polyacrylamide/laponite suspensions display non-Newtonian behavior in almost the whole range of shear rate. At low shear rates, the shear viscosity and shear stress was increased with addition of the laponite. The viscosities of the polyacrylamide/laponite suspensions were comparable to those of the neat polyacrylamide solution at higher shear rates. The flow curves indicated the shear viscosity and stress of samples increased with increasing polyacrylamide concentration and molecular weight, but decreased with increasing salinity, temperature and pH of water.
