چکیده:

pH measurements are performed a countless number of time every day, in all pH dependant chemical processes, especially in crucial areas such as agribusiness, pharmaceutical industry and human health. Currently, the most frequently used electrode for measuring pH remains traditional glass membrane pH electrodes, which have the disadvantage to be large size, fragility of the glass, and expensive [1]. There has been considerable interest in designing non-glass pH sensors to overcome some of the above mentioned limitations of the glass electrode. Among different materials, metal oxides have many advantages for this purpose including mechanical strength, stability, ease of preparation, ect [2].The employment of sol–gel chemistry to produce carbon-based conducting matrixes has received increasing interest in recent years [3]. In addition, the procedure developed for the fabrication of the electrodes is easy; by simply adding graphite to the precursor’s solution, conductivity is conferred to it and the mixture is readily malleable, so that virtually any configuration can be obtained.In this report, we demonstrate the utility of carbon ceramic electrode (CCE) as a novel substrate for electrodeposition of nanoparticals of cobalt oxide and application of the resulting modified electrode as a potentiometric sensor for measuring of the solutions pH for first time. The modified CCE showed excellent results in acid–base titrations and measuring of pH in some real samples
