A review of publications on the effect of clays as nano-sized filler on the several properties of the PVC nanocomposites. Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) plays an important role in the plastic industry and is one ofthe most versatile thermoplastics. Therefore, it is necessary to develop new PVC products with high quality and good properties in order to yield high added values and broaden PVC applications, but it must be combined with a number of additives before processing. montmorillonite (MMT) is the most commonly used nano clay for the preparation of this nanocomposites. The structure of PVC nanocomposites was observed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). The other properties of this nanocomposites evaluated by termogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), tensile mechanical measurements. The present paperfocusses on properties enhancement reported by different researchers and future challenges for these emerging materials in engineering applications.
