چکیده:

Today the sea as one of the major sources of freshwater supply in many areas lack sufficient fresh water. Meanwhile, the corrosion in marineenvironments is one of the main problems and reducethe thickness of carbon and low alloy tubes used in sea water, including its effects. Corrosion involvesthe interaction between material and environment that is influenced by material properties and environmental parameters. Application andperformance of materials in seawater is closely related to various environmental conditions. Among the most important environmental properties may beparameters such as temperature, pH, salinity, depth and velocity of the fluid. As, most of the offshore industrial activities of Iran are focused in Persian Gulf, this paper mainly emphasized on general conditions of this Gulf and the effect of depth on deteriorating parameters which affect corrosion rate in offshore equipments
