In a waste water treatment plant, MOBIN PETROCHEMICAL PLANT with an input from different petrochemical plant; olefins, aromatics, methanol, ammonia and others with oil and suspended solids in emulsion form that made color and turbidity, it has tested Al(NO3)3, FeCl3, and PAC (Poly Aluminum Chloride) as coagulants with anionic polyelectrolyte as flocculants by jar test. This study was performed to determine the best coagulant for effective treatment of petrochemical waste water. The removal rate of turbidity and color and the variations of water qualities according to various dosages of coagulants were investigated. It is concluded that in a solution with low turbidity and color, PAC and Al(NO3)3 have the same efficiency in turbidity and color removal than FeCl3. But in a solution with high turbidity and color, PAC has better efficiency than Al(NO3)3 and FeCl3 and it is precipitated a sludge with higher FSI. In the view of residuals ions in solution, PAC is not remained any ions in solution, but FeCl3 is remained so much Fe ions and also Al(NO3)3 is remained so much Al , NO3 ions in solution. The PH drop of solution after adding of PAC is less than Al(NO3)3 and FeCl3.
