چکیده:

Rare earth metals are basic materials for the production of high technology goods and systems,and their demand at high purity has therefore been increasing in recent years. Solvent extraction isone of the important separation and recovery methods for valuable metals such as rare earthmetals. This paper describes the extraction of cerium from aqueous nitric acid medium using di-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid. Aqueous and organic phase contained 150 ppm of Ce in diluted nitric acid and 0.05 molar extractant diluted with kerosene, respectivly. No third face wasobserved in the investigated condition. The influence of following parameters was invesstigated:contact time, the organic/aqueous phase ratio, initial pH and extractant concentration. These various experimental parameters are investigated at room temperature to optimize the suitableextraction conditions. It was found that optimum condition is: contact time > 40 min, organic/aqueous phase = 1, pH > 2.5, extractant concentration > 0.03 molar
