چکیده:

This paper presents an Improved Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization Technique (IDPSO) in order to determine the optimal number and locations of PMUs for complete observability of a power system for normal operating conditions, as well as for single measurement loss and thereby can be used for power system state estimation. The proposed IDPSO is based on the quantum particle swarm optimization which has a good convergence behavior. To increase the efficiency of the proposed IDPSO the concept of time varying inertia weight and time varying acceleration coefficients are incorporated to the proposed algorithm. The efficiency of the proposed method is verified by the simulation results of IEEE 14-bus, 30- bus, 57-bus-118 bus and Tehran 41-BUS test systems.
