چکیده:

Numerical study is performed using Large Eddy Simulation (LES) to investigate the heat and toxic gases released from fires in real tunnels. Due to catastrophic disasters about tunnel fires in previous years, it is, indeed, attracts increasing attention of researchers to create safe designs. All underground constructions should include a proper ventilation system, but to optimize the locations and the ventilation velocities, it is desired to explore the behavior of flow induced by fire for no ventilation at first. In this research, a real tunnel of 600 meter length with a 10 MW fire at the middle is simulated using FDS (Fire Dynamic Simulator). After validation of numerical results with theoretical relations, CO and temperature profiles are plotted to explore the dangerous locations. It is shown that tunnel’s exit floor has CO concentration 3 times larger than near fire
