Surface modifications of nano-particles of clinoptilolite (as a natural zeolite) were performed by two different methods composed of surface modifying with tetra amine and in next by coating with a poly(methacrylic acid) layer. The prepared nano-composite hydrogels tested for its suitability to capture nitrate from water at 25 C. the results of these tests showed evidence of poly(methacrylic acid) coating onto clinoptilolite nano-particles. The capacity of prepared nano-composite hydrogels was 0.85 mmol NO3 g-1.
