چکیده:

In order to comply with stringent pollutant emissions regulations, a detailed analysis of the engine combustion and emission is required. Recent rapid advances in computer power lead to increased use of computational tools in engine design, significantly reducing the costs of simulations in comparison with engine experiments. In this field, computational tools like CFD and engine cycle simulation play a fundamental role. Hence, the goal of the present work is to simulate a DI diesel engine and study the combustion and major diesel engine emissions, i.e. NOx and soot by the commercial CFD code AVL-FIRE. The predicted values of the in cylinder pressure, temperature, heat release rate, and emissions by this CFD model show a good agreement with the experimental results
