friction stir welding FSW has received a great deal of attention as a new solid state welding technique . In the present study the microstructure and the mechanical property of FS-welded 5083-H321 aluminum alloy and the effect of friction stir welding parameters on the amount of axial load during the welding of A1 5083 has been investigated . the microstructures of the stir zones consisted of fine equiaxed grains at various FSW conditions in FS-welded 5083 A1 alloy the size of the crystal grain in SZ is about 8mm in different welding parameters it was found that increasing the tool rotation rate will increase the axial loads this increase can be related to the material flow in the thickness direction of the plate.
