چکیده:

Abutments support the ends of the bridge and transfer the loads from the superstructure into the ground. The abutments also support the bearing devices and the back walls Failure of bridges due to local scour has motivated many investigators to explore the causes of scouring and to predict the maximum scour depth at abutments. In this paper, set of experimental tests, which are done in SCWMRI in Tehran, are presents with 20 cm length, with rectangular end shape of abutments with three discharges. Experimental results indicate that, scour hole and sediment tail is deposited downstream of abutment were extended with increasing of the discharge.
