چکیده:

soil reinforcement is an effective and reliable method for increasing stabiligy , strength and bearing capacity of soil. Carpet shreds and carpet shred – soil mixture can be used as alternative backfill material in many geotechnical applications. Inthis study an experimental testing program was undertaken using small scale model tests with goal of evaluating the lateral resistance of a single pile located near a reinforcing sandy slope . a broad series of conditions including unreiforced cases was tested by varying parameters such as: carpet shred content 0.3,0.6 , 0.9,1.2,1.5and 1.8 percent of the weight of dry sand. aspect ratios 1,2,3 and 4 with shred’s width 2 and length 2,4,6 and 8 cm respectively of carpet shreds, pile distance from the slope crest relative density of sand angle of the slope embedded length skin friction and cross section of pile.
