چکیده:

The design of Lali Bridge caisson foundation with emphasis on interface stresses is presented in this paper. This bridge is on Karoon River. After impounding of theGotvand Dam the elevation of water in the river will reach 240 m. Before impoundment the river elevation was at 110 meters. Now after partial impounding theelevation of the river is at 140 m. This cable stay bridge has two piers each having two caissons foundations. The deck of the caissons is 13 by 32 meters and has a thicknessof 5 meters. The caissons are of 10 meter diameter and have a depth of 20 meters in the rock. The caisson has reinforced concrete, one meter thick at the periphery and 3meters thick at the bottom. The infilling is with fill concrete. The different stages of thecaisson foundation design are reviewed here with emphasis on the interface stresses between the caisson and the surrounding rock.
