Hydro-Québec is developing the hydroelectric project of La Romaine, situated on the North shore of the St-Lawrence River, in Quebec, Canada. The project consists inbuilding 4 generating stations with a total installed power of 1500 MW and an annual output of 8,0Twh. In order to increase significantly the production and the export ofclean and renewable electrical energy, the Government of Québec, recommended in its strategic guidelines the construction of new hydroelectric projects, one of the mostimportant being the La Romaine Complex. The electricity produced in the four powerplants of the Complex will help to avoid new emissions of gas with greenhouse effect in North America with approximately 3 million tons, if that energy would have beengenerated with natural gas and with about 7,5 million tons, if coal could have been used for the same purposes. In order to improve the schedule of the project and itscosts, modern technologies, like CATIA assisted design, extensive use of AsphalticCore Rockfill Dams or of pre-cast concrete and steel elements for the construction of the powerplants have been priorized
