Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) and its major degradation product tert-butyl alcohol (TBA) have emerged as important water pollutants because of theirs high mobility, persistence and toxicity. Inthis study, kinetics and equilibrium adsorption experiments of simoltaneous adsorption of MTBEand TBA onto nano-perfluorooctyl alumina prepared by using boehmite (nano-PFOALB) was investigated in a batch system. The oxygenate concentrations were determined by head space gaschromatography/mass spectrometry analyses. The experimental data were modeled using twoisotherm models (Langmuir and BET) to determine equilibrium parameters The kinetic data were analyzed to predict the constant rate of adsorption using two common kinetic models: pseudo-firstorder and pseudo-second-order equation. Results reveal that The process of MTBE and TBA adsorption onto the nano-PFOALB can be well described by pseudo-second-order kinetics. Considering the correlation coefficient, BET isotherm model was obtained good correlationbetween the experimental and predicted data. Results reveal that PFOALB has appropriate kineticand equilibrium parameters for methyl tert-butyl ether and tert-butyl alcohol adsorption.
