چکیده:

The effectiveness of UV/TiO2 process for the removal of aliphatic and aromatic organic pollutants in real petroleum refinery (PRW) wastewater using bench-scale experiment setup was investigated. The effects of the initial COD concentration, temperature, pH and reaction time on the photodegradation of PRW were investigated. These parameters were studied to find the optimal conditions for a complete and fast oxidation of this organic compound. A maximum reduction in COD of more than 93% was achieved at the optimum conditions (pH of 4, catalyst concentration of 100 mg/l, a temperature of 50 °C and reaction time of 120 min). The efficiency of UV/TiO2 process also was investigated toward the degradation of benzene, toluene and xylenes (BTX) in PRW by using GC-Mass. The results indicated that BTX can be effectively oxidized by UV/TiO2 process
