Guest-host interaction between two classes of dyes (anionic and cationic) and fifth generation of poly(propylene imine) dendrimer (G5-PPI) was investigated upon a heterogeneous surface (cotton fabric) using reflectance spectrophotometer. Also, the effect of guest and host molecules properties (i.e. charge and size) and pH of media on the substantivity of the guest molecules towards the attached host molecules was studied. Results showed that the strong substantivity of the dye molecules towards the G5-PPI can be attributed to the good match in charge and dimension between the cavities of dendrimer and the dye molecules. Maximum absorption for the anionic dye around pH value of 3 and for cationic dye around pH value of 10 was observed
