Flow simulation software has always been a very valuable tool in compressor preliminary design studies, as well as in compressor performance assessment. The Present paper describes a newly developed streamline curvature throughflow method for the design of radial machines. The code includes curved walls, curved leading and trailing edges, and internal blade row calculating stations. The paper describes some new aspects of the code. In particular, a relatively simple numerical model for spanwise mixing is derived; A new method is used to have calculating stations in blade rows which make it possible to assess predictions for turbomachines that only have one stage. New correlations are used to proximate the efficiency of machine. Example is given of the use and validation of the code for radial compressor, and this show that it is an excellent tool for preliminary design.
