چکیده:

Combinations of Al-5Ti-1B and Al-10Ca master alloys have been used to study their effects on the structure and mechanical properties of cast A356 alloy. Al-5Ti-1B and Al-10Ca master alloys were added to the moltenA356 alloy to produce different levels of Ti (0.01, 0.05 and 0.1) and Ca (0.01, 0.03 and 0.05) in the castings. From macrostructure studies the optimum amount of Ti was found to be 0.01%. The addition of Ca showed that Si crystals in the microstructure of thealloy changes from acicular to refined morphology to some extent. Significant improvement on tensile properties obtained from simultaneous addition of grain refinement and modification. The results showed that as the mount of Ca increases (up 0.05%Ca), UTS value increases from 210 MPa to 310 MPa.
