Photovoltaic technology has been the fast growing renewable technology in recent years. The biggest obstacle toward using photovoltaic (PV) systems widely is their low energy conversion efficiency. The efficiency of PV cells will decrease as the temperature of array increases. Using water for cooling the array will keep PV cell temperature and cell reflection as low as possible. The aim of this research is to investigate theeffect of active cooling of PV cells by creating a thin film of water over the cells. For this purpose two photovoltaic panels and a water pumping system is installed in Tehran city (Latitude: 35° ۴۱´ and longitude: 51° ۳۵´) and experimental results gathered during July 2011. The results of cooled system are compared with a traditional system at the same condition. Experimental results show that electrical yield increases 11 percent. Using an effective DC pump; a net gain of 8-9% can be achieved
