چکیده:

The relation between occurrence of drought and the generated electrical energy is investigated in this paper. The study focuses on Rigcheshme dams in Golestan, a northern province of Iran. As a first step, the drought is calculated and evaluated from inflow time series for 39 years using a new drought index named Standard DischargeIndex (SDI). In the next step by means of RETScreen software, the amount of energy generation has been calculated and the correlation linking the SDI and energy generation is extracted. The results indicate that correlation between generatedenergy and SDI is high (more than 0.90) except for months with high discharge, such as March, April, and May, due to the effect of snow melt and floods
