In this work the effect of nano clays on rheological properties of polymeric gels have been studied. The prepared nano composites in this work included Co-polymer of Polyacrylamide, Triacetate chromium as crosslinker and Montmorillonite nanoclay. At first different samples were prepared from various concentrations of Co-polymer and crosslinker to choose the suitable gel through them. Then the chosen concentration of gel was investigated in different concentrations of nanoclay to clear the effect of clay on these kinds of gels. The effect of monovalent and divalent ions on nano clay composites gel, were also investigated. For achieving this reasons bottle tests and rheological test in order to studying the strength were used. As results showed, the concentration of 9500 ppm of polymer and 1:5 ration of crosslinker/polymer made the suitable gel in order to use in water shut off process. The influences of monovalent and divalent ions on nano clay composites gel, showed decrease on viscosity and gel strength, where in divalent ions, it is more effective than in monovalent ions. The addition of nanoclay to gels improved rheological properties of gels which was more clear in low concentrations of nanoclay, and in high concentrations of nano clay (more than 5%) cause a decrease in viscosity. Finally, the results showed that, the addition of Montmorillonite nanoclay increased gel strength properties.
