چکیده:

In this paper finite element method is used to investigate the transverse vibration of three layer sandwich beam with electro-rheological (ER) core resting on Pasternak elastic foundation. Bingham’s equation is employed for modeling dynamic behavior of ER fluid. Effects of various parameters such as modules of the elastic foundation and thickness ratio of elastic layers on natural frequencies of the beam are investigated. Transient response of the beam to an initial excitation iscalculated and influence of ER core on settling time of the beam is inspected. Obtained numerical results show that elastic foundation makes the beam stiffer and ER layer improves damping properties of the beam
