Many reservoirs in the world, encountered with sediment deposition problems and fully drawdown flushing in these reservoirs is not a good and logical operation. Also,partial flushing method is not a good operation for a reservoir with a critical deposited sediment situation. In this study, growth and extended vortex flow around areservoir sluice gate in a pressurized flushing (with high water level) is applied by using a semi-cylindrical structure. This method increased sediment erosionapproximately 1500 percent compared with a situation without a semi-cylindrical structure (normal situation). So, we can sucked a large mass of deposited sediments inthe reservoir (especially around the sluice gates), out of the scour hole and throughthe outlet periodically, with a low losses in water volume. This method facilitates well working of gates and turbines and decreases the dead storage designed for thereservoirs.
