In view of the existence of large quantity of gas hydrates in oceanic and permafrost region that makes these materials as alternative forms of energy and a factor of climate change, it is essential to obtain a better understanding of hydrates formation and dissociation conditions in porous media. Formation of gas hydrates in synthetic porous media is inhibited as a result of capillary pressure similar to those found in natural sediments. However, fair and accurate data that describe these effects are still lacking. In this work, methane hydrate dissociation points for pure water and 3.5 mass% methanol aqueous solutions in confined silicagel pores with 10 and 15nm mean diameters have been measured experimentally. These data have been used to validate a thermodynamic model that proposed in this work for hydrates equilibrium points in porous media containing alcohol. Experimental data are in good agreement with the model predictions.
